NATURE – HIKING – EXPERIENCE / FORA ZAKYNTHOS
Walking in nature reduces stress, depression, anger, fatigue and increases vitality and wellness. It is effective in the treatment of “spiritual” stress and mental fatigue.
The island of Zakynthos is ideal for walking and hiking. The unevenness of the landscape – mountain, plain and sea – offers routes with various aspects of beauty, while the low altitude of the mountains makes hiking accessible for all ages.
FόRα started to work two years ago, by studying and finding unique tracks, all over Zakynthos. Our interest is not only about hiking. It’s also about history, local society, culture, tradition, flora and fauna. And all this information we share and exchange with you during our walks.
We are now convinced that the mass, the junk, the “fast food” at all levels, is not for us. Instead, we are drawn by quality, by the human and the natural. Walking in nature can be a very good tool in this direction. It revives, it trains and it “wakes up” both the body and the mind, while it puts a brake on the fast pace of modern day life. So, we went out “with FoRa”, we found tracks, hidden treasures and we offer them to you. Promising to continue, not only during the touristic season, but the whole year round.

CERAMIC ART STUDIO ADAMIEION
Adamieion Ceramic Art Studio is located in the small village of Marineika, 4 km from Zakynthos town and less than 30 minutes walking distance from Tsilivì.
The studio is built among vine grows, lemon trees and olive trees, on two floors, keeping the architectural tradition of Zakynthos.
The owner, Dionysia Avouri, was born in Zakynthos and studied ceramic art and painting for 5 years in Athens, while working in ceramic workshops to acquire experience and learn new techniques on making ceramics.
From 1996 she has set her own studio where she creates functional and decorative ceramics.
In her workshop you can see the whole process of making ceramics: preparing of clay, pug-mill, hand-kneading, wheel throwing, painting, glazing and firing.
Clay, oxides, glazes and other materials come both from Greece and other countries.
Clay is fired between 1050 °C and 1280 °C.
Dionysia loves her island, so all her creations are inspired from the nature, life, tradition, colour and smell of Zakynthos: ceramic olive branches, dinner sets with olives design, fishes and turtles, ceramic ladies inspired from old Zakynthos are only a few of her collections.
Adamieion is divided in three sections.
At ground level we find the workshop and the first section of the showroom. Here the visitor can find ceramics for everyday use (vases, plates, dinnerware sets etc.), as well as pieces for decoration (wall plates, sea life, small souvenirs, etc.).
On the first floor you will find ceramics mostly for decoration (ceramic figures, dolls, flowers, plates for the wall, wooden-ceramic creations etc.). Dionysia is a member of The Panhellenic Association of Ceramists and Potters. She has taken part to exhibitions in Zakynthos and Athens and since 2001 she has a permanent exhibition in her studio.
Courses for kids and adults
We offer the opportunity to come and play with clay while exploring your fantasy and creativity, creating turtles, bowls, vases and more.
Personal expression is encouraged! Come to make your own ceramic!
We fire it and you take it back home to remember holidays in Zakynthos.
You can also have the imprints of your child‘s hands or foots in clay.
You can pass to visit us even if you want to see one of the biggest and oldest olive trees on Zakynthos island.
The diameter of the tree is about 8 meters and it is in the garden behind the Adamieion shop of Marineika.
